FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The things people ask before installing — answered without the marketing hedging.

Privacy & security

Does Splitiva need my bank login?

No, and it never will. Splitiva has no connection to your bank account and never asks for net banking credentials. On Android it reads the transaction alerts your bank already sends to your phone, and it does that entirely on the device.

Is my SMS content uploaded anywhere?

No. Parsing happens locally. The raw message text is read on the device and discarded — it is never transmitted to a server, stored remotely, or sent to a cloud AI model. Only the resulting expense is kept, and that is encrypted if you have sync enabled.

Is my data encrypted?

Expenses are stored in an encrypted store on the device. If you enable sync, your vault is end-to-end encrypted before it leaves the phone. You can also require Face ID, Touch ID or a fingerprint to open the app.

Do you sell my data?

No. No data brokers, no third-party sale, no advertising profile built from your purchases. Splitiva is funded by Pro subscriptions, so the paying customer and the user are the same person. See the privacy policy.

How do I delete my account and data?

From inside the app, or by submitting a request at delete account. You can export everything as CSV or PDF first if you want a copy.

Automatic tracking

Does automatic tracking work on iPhone?

Not via SMS — iOS does not let any app read your messages, and Splitiva does not try to work around that. On iPhone you can paste a bank alert into Smart Import, or point Vision Mode at a receipt or payment screenshot. Both produce the same parsed expense.

Which banks are supported?

All major Indian banks and wallets, including HDFC, ICICI, SBI, Kotak, Axis, Paytm, PhonePe and Google Pay, covering UPI, debit and credit cards and net banking. Parsing rules are updated over the air, so new formats are supported without waiting for an app update.

What if a message is not recognised?

Splitiva falls back to a small language model running on your phone. If it is still unsure, the expense is queued for a one-tap confirmation rather than guessed silently — and your corrections improve future categorisation.

Can it import past transactions?

Yes. Splitiva Pro can backfill up to six months of past SMS alerts on Android, so your history is populated from day one instead of starting empty.

Splitting & groups

Do my friends need the app to settle up?

To see the live group ledger and confirm settlements, yes. You can still track a group's expenses and share an invite link, and anyone can join from that link.

What is debt simplification?

Instead of everyone paying everyone, Splitiva nets the balances across the whole group and reduces them to the fewest possible transfers. A trip that generates a dozen small IOUs usually collapses into two or three payments. More on how it works.

Can I import my data from other apps?

Yes — export from another app as CSV and import it into Splitiva so your groups arrive with their history rather than starting from zero. See the full comparison.

General

Does Splitiva work offline?

Yes. It is local-first, so adding expenses, splitting bills, checking budgets and generating insights all work with no connection at all. Sync catches up when you are back online.

Is Splitiva free?

Unlimited expenses and unlimited group splitting are free forever, not a trial. Pro is optional and adds the heavier automation. See pricing.

Which languages are supported?

Ten: English, हिन्दी, Deutsch, Español, Français, Bahasa Indonesia, 日本語, 한국어, Português and ภาษาไทย.

Is there a web version?

Yes. Open the Splitiva web app in any modern browser and sign in with the same account.

How do I get help?

Fair splits. Zero stress.

Free to start, no bank login, and everything stays on your device unless you say otherwise.
